Vietnam Buddhist Sangha urges China Buddhist Association to raise their voice

On June 1st, at Phố Quang Pagoda, the executive board of Ho Chi Minh city’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held a praying ceremony for peace in East Sea with the participation of dignitaries and about 2,000 monks, nuns and Buddhists.

At the ceremony, Venerable Thích Đức Nghiệp, Deputy Patriarch of the VBS’s discernment council proclaimed the message of the Patriarch of VBS regarding peace in the East Sea. The message stated: "Based on the fact in East Sea, many countries including Vietnam are facing risks of being threatened by the expansion of the large country. In the spirit of compassion and peace-loving, we urge the China Buddhist Association by specific actions, call on Buddhist leaders, monks, nuns and Buddhists in the world to speak up in supporting of righteousness, demand the Chinese government to fulfill its commitment towards respecting the provisions of international law ".

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh city’s monks, nuns and Buddhists donated money for the foundation "for loving Spratly islands, for the nation’s first border" with a total amount of 200 million vnd. /.
