Tien Giang Buddhists pray for peace in the East Sea

On May 28, 2014, at the Vinh Trang pagoda, My An village, My Phong commune, Tien Giang province, the provincial Buddhist Executive Board held a solemn ceremony to pray for peace in the East Sea.

Attending the praying ceremony were Most Ven. Thích Huệ Minh – Head of the Executive Board of provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, local authorities representatives and over 500 monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

At the praying ceremony, on behalf of monks, nuns and followers, Venerable Thích Giác Nhân – Deputy Head of the provincial Executive Board read the petition of the Tien Giang Buddhists which stated: to be strongly opposed to China’s illegal placement of oil rig HD 981 and escorting ships in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf and demand China to withdraw the oil rig from Vietnam’s continental shelf and respect the international law.

On this occasion, the provincial Buddhist Executive Board invited the provincial Party Committee for Communication and Education to inform about the East Sea situation and Party and State’s guidelines for conducts regarding the East Sea situation to monks, nuns and followers.
