The Executive Board of Thua Thien Hue Buddhist Sangha organizes prayers for peace in the East Sea

To join the movement “towards the beloved island”, on May 28 2014, at the Tu Dam pagoda, Hue city, the Executive Board of Thua Thien Hue Buddhist Sangha organized prayers for peace in the East Sea

Attending the praying ceremony were local authorities representatives, Buddhist dignitaries and followers inside and outside of the province.

At the ceremony, the Executive Board of Thua Thien Hue Buddhist Sangha stated that since ancient times, Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands have been inseparable part of Vietnam. China’s illegal placing oil rig HD - 981 in Vietnam’s continental shelf and economic zone was extremely dangerous and directly endangered peace, stability, security, and marine safety in Vietnam and region. All Buddhist dignitaries and followers in Thua Thien Hue provinces would follow the message of the Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty and demand China to fulfill its commitment to the international law as well as respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries. Prayer for peace in the East Sea, all Buddhists executive boards and followers in the locality united and upheld national traditions, joint with the Buddhists and people throughout the country to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty. After the ceremony, Buddhist dignitaries and followers as well as local authorities donated money for supporting fishermen, marine police in the islands who are on duties and work to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty.
