The Executive Board of Bac Ninh’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organizes prayers for peace in the East Sea

On June 4, 2014, at the Dai Thanh pagoda, Kinh Bac ward, Bac Ninh city, the Executive Board of Bac Ninh’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized prayers for peace in the East Sea.

Attending the praying ceremony were Mr. Nguyễn Văn Hùng, Vice - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province, Most Ven. Thích Thanh Sam – Deputy Patriarch of the Discernment Council of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, leaders from local authorities, monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

At the praying ceremony, the provincial Executive Board, monks, nuns and followers strongly opposed to China’s illegal placing oil rig HD - 981 in Vietnam’s continental shelf and economic zone, urged the China Buddhist Association and Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the world to demand China to fulfill its commitment to the international law, respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, including Vietnam. At praying ceremony for peace in the East Sea, all Buddhists dignitaries and followers in the locality united and upheld national traditions, joint with the Buddhists and people throughout the country to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty. On this occasion, Buddhist dignitaries and followers donated money for “fund for the East Sea” supporting fishermen, marine police who are on duties and work to protect Vietnam’s sovereignty.
