Religious organizations contribute 16 billion VND to Covid-19 prevention work

Religious organizations throughout the country have sofar strictly applied preventive measures and made practical contributions to the Covid-19 prevention and control.  

Reportedly, by April 14, religious organizations have sent nearly 16 billion VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front for supporting to the epidemic combating efforts.

In particular, eight out of 27 Catholic dioceses, Catholic solidarity committees at all levels and Catholics have presented over 2.135 billion VND, three tons of rice, and necessary materials worth 21 million VND.

Buddhist organizations and followers have contributed eight negative pressure rooms worth 5.5 billion VND (five pressure rooms from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council and three rooms from the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh city and Quang Ninh province, and Tran Quoc pagoda), and presented over eight billion VND in cash and 11,000 free facemasks and 3,000 gift boxes.

Christian churches in Vietnam have sent over two billion VND, 99,520 facemasks, 1,380 protective gears, 1,500 bottles of antiseptic solution, 12.5 tons of rice, 1,500 packs of instant noodles; 1,370 gift boxes; 2,050 bottles of antiseptic solution to local authorities for supporting the Covid-19 preventive efforts.

Hoa Hoa Buddhist Church has donated over one billion VND, 79 tons of rice, 271,850 facemasks, 600 drapes, 300 barrels of water and 100 individual beds, and provided thousands of free meals and necessities at quarantive centers set up in provinces. Followers have also contributed 355 units of blood to health facilities in localities. 

Caodai sects and individuals have supported 622 million VND, 125,000 facemask, five tons of rice, 500 boxes of noodle and 60 gift sets.

Other religions have also presented 683 million VND, 91,900 facemasks and 285 gift boxes and necessities to poor households.
