Prime Minister urges vigilance as Vietnam’s COVID-19 cases surge

 COVID-19 is spreading widely in Vietnam with mutation, so everybody needs to be highly vigilant, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said.   

Chairing a government meeting on Wednesday, the Prime Minister instructed ministries, localities, and agencies to strictly implement the guidelines in fighting the epidemic. He said local leaders must drastically mobilize the political system and people to join the fight against COVID-19. Prime Minister Phuc urged for strengthened tracing and fast isolation of people in direct contact with COVID-19 patients. He stressed the need to increase testing in localities, screening for disease detection, and protecting medical staff and people.

On Wednesday afternoon, Vietnam recorded 4 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the community. Among them, there are 2 cases in Da Nang, 1 case in Dak Lak, and 1 case in Hanoi, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

To date, 369 of the total 450 COVID-19 cases in Vietnam have been cured. Health facilities are continuing to treat 81 cases, of which, 34 new cases are community infections detected from July 25. There have been no deaths from COVID-19.
