More than 1,000 Buddhists in Da Nang prayed for peace in the East Sea, and demanded Chinese government to withdraw its oil rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
The praying ceremony was held at Pháp Lâm Pagoda by Da Nang’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on May 28th. According to the event organizer, the placing of Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig and vessels infringed the exclusive economic zone of Vietnam, and violated the UN Convention 1982 Law of the Sea.
