Buddhists in Thai Binh hold a praying ceremony for peace in the East Sea

On May 21st, 2014, the Executive Council of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha issued the Notification No 132/ TB-HĐTS on the organization of praying ceremony for peace in East Sea, and protesting China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

On June 3rd, 2014, at Thánh Long pagoda, Ky Ba ward, Thai Binh city, the Executive Board of provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha held a praying ceremony for peace in East Sea. Attending the ceremony were over 500 monks, nuns and Buddhists, and representatives of local authorities.

On this occasion, the religious monks, nuns and Buddhists maked donations to the “Supporting for the East Sea foundation” in order to assist and encourage the officers, soldiers and fishermen who are fighting to defend the sovereignty of the nation's sacred island.
