The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Tien Giang held a meeting on January 28 for reviewing Buddhist affairs 2017 and setting the working program for 2018.
Attending the meeting were Most Venerable Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Tien Giang Thích Huệ Minh, and large numbers of monks and nuns from the VBS’s provincial and district-level executive bodies in the province.
Local guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Mai.
According to the meeting report, the VBS chapter in Tien Giang has recorded many achievements in Buddhist affairs and social charities in 2017. During the year, Buddhists in the province contributed over VND 45.5 billion to social charities.
On the occasion the provincial VBS’s executive committee presented promoting certificates to newly ordained Buddhist clerics in 2017 to 10 Most Venerables, 17 Senior Venerables, four Superior Nuns and 19 Bhikkhunis./.
