Vinh Diocese extends Tet greetings to provincial governments of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh

A delegation from Vinh Diocese led by Auxiliary Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Viên paid visits on February 7 to provincial authorities of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh on occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year Festival (Tet).

During the visits, the Catholic delegation was welcomed by Head of the Quang Binh provincial Commission on Mass Mobilization Work Nguyễn Công Huấn, Vice Chairman of Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee Trần Tiến Dũng, Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee Đặng Quốc Vinh, and representative leaders of concerning agencies and departments in the two provinces.

During the visits, Auxiliary Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Viên took the chance to thank the provincial authorities of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh for facilitating practices of Catholicism in the two provinces, especially important Catholic events and festivals. The Catholic dignitaries also shared that conflicts between Catholics and non-Catholic people is sometimes unavoidable and did occur in several localities. However, he said the brotherhood between people can help overcome such conflicts and then contribute the development in the localities.

Speaking with the guests, officials of the provincial government of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh shared results of social developments in the two provinces and highlighted practical contributions of Catholics that helped overcome consequences of the recent marine environmental incident and natural calamities of floods and cyclones in Vietnam Central in the last two years.
