Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngọc Anh has signed Document No.06/CD-UBND, ordering the closing of non-essential services from 5 pm of May 3 as COVID-19 community infections have taken a more serious scale.
Due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19, all street eateries and cafés, as well as tourism sites, sidewalk tea shops, temples, and religious sites are now closed. Indoor restaurants must strictly obey the pandemic prevention guidelines of the Ministry of Health, otherwise they will be ordered to close.
Departments and agencies, as well as district and communal authorities were directed to prepare scenarios for a large-scale COVID-19 outbreak while taking urgent action to investigate, trace, and test those in close contact with new COVID-19 infections.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City authorities suspended massage parlours, music venues, cinemas, and electronic gaming sites from 6 pm today.
Vietnam on April 29 detected the first locally-transmitted cases of the coronavirus after going for 35 days without an infection.
On May 3, the country reported 19 new infections, including 10 locally community-transmitted cases and 9 entrants. On the morning of May 4, the country continued to have two more locally community-transmitted cases, thus increasing the total number of new locally-transmitted cases to 37 since April 29.
