The Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association in An Giang successfully held on December 20 its general conference for the 2018-2023 term.
The event taking place in Hung Phuoc temple saw the attendance of Vice Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Buddhist association Thiện Hạnh Nguyễn Ngọc Ánh and 60 delegates representing members of the Buddhist association in the province.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization Lê Văn Lĩnh, Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Tùng Châu, representatives from local authorities and other religious organizations in An Giang province.
The general conference discussed results of social-religious activities of the Buddhist sect in the province during the past term. As reported at the event, during the last tenure, the association in An Giang province contributed nearly VND 25.4 billion to social, charity activities, including free medical examinations for over 600,000 patients and provision of 1.5 million packs of traditional medicines.
The event also elected seven members to the executive board of the Pure-Land Buddhist sect in An Giang for the 2018 – 2023 tenure with Mr. Lê Phụng reselected as Head of the executive board.
