Vietnam Fatherland Front leader extends Christmas greetings to Protestants in Ho Chi Minh city

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyễn Thiện Nhân sent Christmas wishes to Protestants during his visit to the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) (ECVN) in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13.

Joining the visit were Mr. Dương Ngọc Tấn, Vice-Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and representatives from Ho Chi Minh city authorities.

On behalf of the State, Party and VFF, President of the VFF Nguyễn Thiện Nhân extended greetings to the Church’s leaders, pastors and followers on occasion Christmas 2014.

Overview of the reception

VFF President expressed his hope that pastors and followers will continue making further contributions to the socio-economic development and charity activities, and proactively joining movements for national solidarity and country prosperity.

Pastor Phan Vĩnh Cự, President of the ECVN, thanked the State and local authorities for their Christmas visit and wishes. He also shared with the guests about Church’s activities in 2014.

On the same day, the VFF President also visited the Catholic family of Le Duc Thinh, whom was granted the title Knight of the Grand Cross by Vatican, at his home in District 7.

At the meeting, VFF President extended best wishes to Mr. Lê Đức Thịnh and his family, while expressing his hope that Mr. Lê Đuc Thịnh and family continues to be a good example of "good citizens, good Catholics" for all Catholics and to actively participate in the cause of construction and development the country.
