Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity holds the 2nd Presidium conference

On July 2nd, the Vietnam Committee for Catholic Solidarity (VCCS) held the 2nd Presidium conference in Hanoi to review the first six-month work and approved the working plan for the last six months of 2014.

Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyễn Lam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF); Pastor Nguyễn Công Danh, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of VFF, Chairman of VCCS; representatives from the Standing Board of the VCCS in provinces and cities.

According to the VCCS’s report, in the first six-month of 2014, VCCS well observed the Regulation and Resolution of the 6th VCCS Congress, guidelines and policies of the Party and State’ law. The VCCS also relied on the practical situation in the implementation of tasks. The patriotic movement in the Catholic communities has strongly developed in fields of economy, education, health, culture, security, defense and social charity works.

In the last six months, VCCS sets out 8 key tasks in order to accelerate and improve the movement "All residents unite to build cultural life in residential areas and live for better religions and secular life" in association with the program for new rural development and civilized urban in Catholic communities, perform professional duties in accordance with the provisions of the VCCS Charter, guidelines and policies of the Party and State.

On behalf of the Central Committee of VFF, Mr. Nguyễn Lam congratulated the VCCS on achievements gained in the previous six months. The Party, State and VFF highly appreciated contributions to the country by Catholic communities, including the Declaration of VCCS No 81/TB-UB-ĐCT on Chinese violations of Vietnam's sovereignty in the East Sea. He expressed his hope that in the coming time, VCCS continues to have practical activities, promoting the patriotic tradition and close attachment to the nation by Catholic communities.

 Speaking at the conference, pastor Nguyễn Công Danh said, in the coming time, VCCS will make further contributions to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Vietnam, promote the patriotic movement, charitable activities, education, health care and effective implementation of socio-economic development programs.

On July 3rd, 2014, VCCS also organized the training workshop 2014. At the training course, participants heard about the new of Constitution 2013, Decree No. 92/2012 / NĐ-CP detailing and providing measures for implementation of the Ordinance on Belief and Religion, current situation and measures to improve efficiency of the movement " All residents unite to build cultural life in residential areas and live for better religions and secular life "in the current period.
