Vietnam Centre for Research and Conservation of Culture of Belief holds year-end conference

Vietnam Centre for Research and Conservation of Culture of Belief holds a conference to review its performance in 2014 and approve working plans for 2015 on Jan 10.

Attending the conference were Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Dương Ngọc Tấn, representatives from the Vietnam Association of Cultural Heritage, Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and belief establishments in provinces of Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Da Nang.

Deputy Director of the Centre Phạm Tứ stated in the final report 2014 that during the year, the Center has strengthened coordination with provincial cultural organizations for organizing scientific seminars on Chau Van singing in localities across the country such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Dong Nai, An Giang ... Particularly, the Center in collaboration with Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a Mother Goddess worship festival with the participation of 170 practicing groups in Hanoi and other provinces.

From the results achieved in 2014, the Centre’s working program for 2015 would promote further studies on the Mother Goddess worship, and make active contributions in seeking UNESCO recognition of Vietnam’s Mother Goddess worship as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the GCRA Dương Ngọc Tấn praised efforts by the Centre in preserving and promoting fine cultural values of the Mother Goddess worship in the modern time and expressed his hope that the Centre would conduct further research on other beliefs and preserve cultural values of these beliefs.
