Yen The district of Bac Giang province on March 16 solemnly organized a festival to mark 139th anniversary of Yen The uprising at Yen The Uprising Historical Relic Site in Phon Xuong town, Yen The district.
In the history of national resistance against the French colonial invasion before the establishment of the Party, Yen The uprising (1884-1913) was considered as the largest armed uprising of the farmers with the biggest scale, longest period and most glorious.
It has become a brilliant symbol of our people's patriotism and will to fight foreign invaders which also contributed a lot of experience to the treasure of Vietnam's military history, especially the art of guerrilla war by building forces and village bases toward continuous fighting over a wide area.
After three-year hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year festival was held in three days (March 15 – 17). The festive part featured many attractive sport competitions like Bac Giang provincial Martial Art Championship, men and women football, rod pushing, soft volleyball, tug of war, badminton, goat fighting and traditional chess among others.
