The Verity Way Caodai Church held on November 28 a conference to review its results of religious and social affairs 2020 in Ca Mau province.
The event taking place at Ngoc Sac oratory located in the province’s Thoi Binh district on occasion of Ha Nguon (the full-month day of the 10th lunar month) festival saw the participation of members of the Church’s Standing Committee, and 230 dignitaries, deacons and followers representing 36 out of all 49 parishes of the Church.
Guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Ngô Hòa Dựa, representatives from local authorities, the provincial Pure-land Buddhist Association and the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in the province.
According to the conference report, in 2020, the Verity Way Caodai Church has implemented social and charity activities with the total value of nearly 10 billion VND. In particular, the Church has contributed over 1.2 billion VND for supporting the poor and victims of calamities, provided free health-check and traditional medicine for 270,000 patients worth over 3.6 billion VND, and offered free meals at hospitals in provinces of Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Kien Giang with the total value at over 400 million VND.
Responding to programs launched by local authorities, the Church has presented 5,100 notebooks, 1,650 pens, 108 textbooks, 15 bicycles and scholarships to poor pupils, worth 160 million VND in total.
In addition, members of the Caodai sect have built five charity houses and 12 rural bridges, and donated 1,680 m2 of land for improving local roads with the total contributing value of 860 million VND.
Regarding the environment protection and climate change adaption, the Church has successfully encouraged followers to plant over 16,000 trees and 2,200 ornamental trees, building 17 incinerators, and establishing teams for collecting garbage, etc.
The Verity Way Caodai Church currently has 49 parishes in provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and Soc Trang with over 33,200 followers, 48 oratories, one Holy See and 16 traditional clinics.
