The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Sub-committee for nun affairs held on December 26 a meeting to review its activities in Ho Chi Minh city.
The event taking place at Quang Duc Buddhist monastery saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Đức Nghiệp, Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Superior Nun Vice Chairwoman of the VBS’s Sub-committee for nun affairs Thích Nữ Tịnh Nguyện and 500 delegates representing Buddhist nuns from localities.
Distinguished guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Tấn Hùng and Vice Chairman of the city Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyễn Ngọc Phong.
In addition to the discussion of results of activities implemented by the VBS’s Sub-committee 2018 and approval of working plans for 2019, the event also announced the appointment decision on personnel of the 127-members Sub-committee for the 2017-2022 tenure headed by Superior Nun Thích Nữ Tịnh Nguyện.

Speaking at the event, while extending congratulations to members of the new VBS’s Sub-committee for nun afairs, Vice Chairman Trần Tấn Hùng praised practical contributions made by Buddhist nuns to the socio-economic development in the country over the past years.
