The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Social Charity Board in Ben Tre province on November 8 inaugurated two rural bridges in hamlets of Giong Trom district’s Luong Phu commune and Mo Cay Nam district’s Huong My commune.
The inaugurations were held in collaboration with the Vietnam Bridge and Road Association (VIBRA) in the province.
Present at the inaugurations included Most Venerable Thích Như Niệm, Member of the VBS’s Central Discernment Council cum Head of Phap Hoa pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city; Venerable Thích Trí Thuận, Chairman of the VBS’s Social Charity Board in Ben Tre; and representatives of local authorities in communes of Luong Phu and Huong My.

As reported, the VBS’s social charity board in the province has successfully collaborated with Phap Hoa pagoda in the construction of the two rural bridges.

The first rural bridge named Xeo La in Luong Phu commune’s Xeo Sau hamlet with 27 meter long and 3.5 meter wide has been completed at the construction cost of 120 million VND, which has been contributed by two lay Buddhists of Phap Hoa pagoda, and local people have contributed working days.
The second rural bridge named No 3 Lo Giua in Huong My commune’s Binh Dong hamlet with 11.70 meter long and 3.3 meter wide has been completed at the construction cost of 100 million VND, which has been donated by lay Buddhist Nguyễn Thị Xuân Trang in Binh Duong province’s Thuan An city, and local people have contributed working days.
On the occasion, President of the VIBRA in the province Trịnh Văn Y handed over certificates of recommendation by provincial authorities to Most Venerable Thích Như Niệm and lay Buddhist Nguyễn Thị Xuân Trang for their practical contributions in the locality.
