VBS in Tra Vinh reviews six-month Buddhist affairs

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapterin Tra Vinh province held on June 19 a meeting for reviewing Buddhist affairs in the first six months of 2022 and mapping out plans of activities in the last six months of the year.

The event taking place at Luong Xuyen pagoda located in Tra Vinh city was chaired by Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of the provincial VBS Chapter’s Executive Committee Thạch Sok Xane, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS executive committee Thích Trí Minh and all members of the provincial VBS executive committee.

Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Kiên Banh and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Nhã Hiền.

As reported at the event, in the first six months 2022, the VBS executive committee in Tra Vinh province recorded good results in Buddhist affairs including successful organizations ofthe 7th congress of the provincial VBS chapter for the 2022-2027 tenure, the Buddha’s Birthday Festivaland the Summer Retreat, and collaboration with local authorities in disseminating State laws.

The provincial VBS chapter has also contributed over 35.7 billion VND to social charities in the first six months of 2022.

In addition, the provincial VBS chapter also appointed Venerable Thích Vĩnh Nghĩa as abbot of Chuan De pagoda in Chau Thanh district and nominated the appointment list of 13 dignitaries including six senior venerables, three superior nuns and four nuns in the province for the first half 2022.
