For the first five months of 2022, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Nghe An province has launched three programs for release of nearly 20 tons of fish, contributing to the regeneration of aquatic resources in the region.

During a program held on May 23, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists of An Hau pagoda released over six tons of fish into Lam River.
Performing Buddhist rites before releasing fish
The fish purchased from the hatchery in Xuan Hoa commune of Nam Dan district was transported to the bank of Lam River near the foothill of Quyet Mountain in Vinh City for release.
Earlier, on April 5, Vien Quang pagoda located in Nam Dan province held a fish release at Lam river wharf in Nam Dan town.
During the event participated by a large number of lay Buddhists and supported by the 414 Engineer Brigade on ferries, rafts and boats, about 12 tons of fish were released into Lam River.

On March 23, a fish release program was held near Ben Thuy bridge in Vinh city with the participation of monks, nuns and about 100 lay Buddhists from Diep Pagoda located in Vinh city, Tu Pagoda in Nghi Loc district, and Dai Tue Pagoda in Nam Dan province.
During the event, about one ton of eel, trach, catfish, carp, crab and snail was released into Lam River.
