VBS in Khanh Hoa encourages monks to volunteer for Buddhist affairs in Truong Sa

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Khanh Hoa province has just issued a dispatch calling on district-level VBS, dignitaries and abbots of Buddhist worshipping places in the province to voluntarily register to serve in pagodas in Truong Sa island district.  

The dispatch was signed by Most Venerable Thích Minh Thông, Acting Chairman of the VBS executive committee.

This was part of the annual Buddhist affairs of the VBS executive committee and as an response to an appeal by the Religious Affairs Committee in the province to encourage monks to voluntarily serve Buddhist affairs in Truong Sa island district.

It is known that each period of Buddhist affairs in Truong Sa lasts two years; however, monks can volunteer to serve from two to three years.

Currently, there are nine Buddhist pagodas in Truong Sa island district. The VBS executive committee has sent ten batches of monks to serve Buddhist affairs in these temples.

The most recent batch took place on January 19, 2021, in which five monks were appointed to lead five pagodas of Nam Yet, Truong Sa Lon, Song Tu Tay, Phan Vinh and Sinh Ton located in the island district.
