A seminar on Buddhist activities of ethnic coumunities in North mountainous region was held at the Convention Centre of Dien Bien province on March 29.
The event was organized by the Committee for Buddhist Propagation and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in collaboration with the VBS of Dien Binh province and the Institute for Religious Studies under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
Attending the event were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Thích Thiện Pháp, Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice Chairmen of the VBS Executive Council, dignitaries of the central VBS Executive Council, the Committee for Buddhist Propagation, Cultural Affairs Committee and the provincial VBS Executive Committee.
Distinguished guests at the workshop included Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Lê Bá Trình, local authorities, scholars and speakers.

At the workshop, delegates discussed and exchanged about the religious situation of the ethnic communities and the need to strengthen national and religious unity; encouraged Buddhists in the highlands, mountainous and border regions to implement the religious charter and laws of the State in order to actively participate in the patriotic emulation movements, contributing to build a prosperous country of Vietnam.
