VBS holds preparatory meeting for 35th anniversary celebrations

On October 6, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) convened a preparatory meeting for the celebration of its 35th founding anniversary which will take place from November 1 to 5 in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

Attending the event included Most Venerable Vice Patriarch of the VBS’s Discernment Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ho Chi Minh City Thích Trí Quảng and members of the VBS’s Organizing Committee.

According a scheduled plan, the VBS 35th anniversary will be held in Hanoi city (the venue of the founding conference in November 7, 1981) and Ho Chi Minh City (the place where the Committee for Buddhist Unity was set up).

The celebration in HCMC will include a wide range of activities, such as a grand meeting, a seminar on VBS’s 35-year development, propagation forums, exhibitions and art performances.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary held in the city, the VBS’s Organizing Committee will present 100 scholarships (worth VND one million each) to poor pupils and students, and hand over 1,000 gift sets to the poor in HCMC, as well as organize a fund-raising to support Fund for the poor launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in HCMC.
