The 9th congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Lam Dong province was successfully held on September 30.
Attending the congress were Most Venerable President of VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Chapter’s Executive Committee in the province Thích Toàn Đức, and about 600 delegates representing Buddhists in the locality.
The congress reviewed religious activities of the VBS Chapter in the province during the 8th term (2012-2017) and approved working plans for the next term.
The one-day event also elected 57 members to the VBS’s Executive Committee in the province for the 2017 – 2022 tenure with Most Venerable Thích Đức Toàn reelected as the Committee Chairman.
Buddhism in Lam Dong currently has over 2,500 monks and nuns with 209 Buddhist worshipping places.
