Unique longevity ceremony of Tay ethnic people

 “Then khoan” longevity ceremony is one of traditional customs of Tay ethnic people in Lao Cai province’s Van Ban district.

The ceremony provides an important opportunity for people who reach the ages of 50 and more to pray for good health and long life.

According to the custom, a shaman, who presides over the ceremony, prepares four paper dolls with the colors of red and yellow
