Ca Mau province currently has six operative religions of Buddhism, Caodaism, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hoa Hao Buddhism and the Pure-land Buddhism with over 370,000 followers (accounting for 30.7 % the provincial population) and 138 religious worshipping places.
The implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and its guiding decree No. 162 since 2018 has achieved significant results.
The provincial People’s Committee has approved the establishment of four grassroots religious organizations of Buddhism, Catholicism, and Caodaism; the commune-level authorities have granted the registration certificate for collective religious practice to four religious groups.
Local authorities have registered 77 cases of religious conferment, appointment, (66), transferring (15), and dismissal (01) in the province.
Local authorities have also allocated land and approved construction permits for 14 grassroots religious organizations for building worshipping facilities in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Belief and Religion and related regulations.
Local authorities also organized six conferences for disseminating the State laws on belief and religions with the participation of 600 religious dignitaries, deacons and followers. In addition, the provincial Education Central Council for Defense and Security in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the provincial Political School have held two training conferences on knowledge of national security and defense for 300 religious dignitaries, deacons and followers in the locality.
