Truong Yen festival in cultural and historical sites of Hoa Lu ancient capital

On June, 2014, the historical temples of Kings Đinh Tiên Hoàng and Lê Đại Hành located in Truong Yen commune of Hoa Lu district inside Trang An scenic landscape complex was recognised as a mixed natural and cultural heritage by UNESCO. Therefore, Hoa Lu ancient capital festival this year has been renamed "Truong Yen festival".

Truong Yen festival takes place on the Hoa Lu historic ancient capital site, the place where King Đinh Tiên Hoàng entered the throne, ending the Northern colonization of the country in over one thousand years and setting up the  first feudal state of Vietnam in 968.

Trang An scenic landscape complex Deputy Director Bùi Văn Mạnh said that after more than ten centuries, Hoa Lu ancient capital still retains its archaeological values of a bustling ancient capital.

Khu di tích hiện có 678 di vật, cổ vật, trong đó hai di tích quan trọng nhất là đền thờ vua Đinh Tiên Hoàng và đền thờ vua Lê Đại Hành, xây dựng vào thế kỷ 17, với nghệ thuật điêu khắc trên gỗ, đá trường tồn cùng thời gian.

The historic site has 678 artifacts and antiques, including the two most important monuments being the temples of King Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh, built in the 17th century.

Chairman of the Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee Đinh Văn Đến said that on April 17, Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with the Vietnam historical organization held a seminar on the role of King Đinh Tiên Hoàng in Vietnam history with the participation of about  20 archaeologists, historians and cultural researchers.

Hoa Lu traditional festival has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ninh Binh province has asked the central sectors to consider and recognize the Hoa Lu traditional festival as Truong Yen festival and one of national festivals by 2018.
