Tien Giang provincial VBS reviews Buddhist affairs 2015

Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee held a meeting to review its performance in 2015 and approve working programs for 2016 at Vinh Trang pagoda on Jan. 21.

Attending the meeting were Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh, member of the VBS Executive Council, Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee and members of the VBS Executive Board from ten districts in the province.

Local guests at the meeting included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê; Director of Religious Affairs department under the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Thị Thanh Hương and representatives from localities.

It’s reported that, in 2015, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in Tien Giang province actively participated in local movements for building charity houses, supporting poor people, donating wheelchairs to the disabled, presenting scholarships to poor and excellent students, etc with the total contribution of over 39 VND billion.

On this occasion, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee presented certificates of merits to eight collectives and eight individuals for their outstanding contributions in social and charitable activities in the locality.
