Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee solemnly held an opening ceremony for the summer retreat course 2015 (B.E. 2559) at Vinh Trang pagoda in My Tho city on June 2.
Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh, Member of the VBS Executive Council, Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee chaired the ceremony which was attended by local Buddhist dignitaries and 430 monks, nuns participating in the Buddhist retreart.
Local officials at the event included Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Huỳnh Văn Phương, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thị Mai and local authorities’ representatives.
According to the organizing board, the summer retreat course will be held from June 2 to August 29 at four places.
