Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee solemnly held the closing ceremony for the summer retreat course 2016 (B.E. 2560) on August 14th at Vinh Trang Pagoda in My Tho province.
Attending closing ceremony were Most Venerable Member of the VBS’ the Discernment Council Thích Bửu Thông, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Huệ Minh, representatives from the VBS Executive Board in the province’s 11 districts and over 500 monks, nuns and Buddhists in the locality.
Local guests at the ceremony included Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Huỳnh Văn Phương and representatives of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs.
As reported, the summer retreat 2016 in the province was held in six places with participation of 486 monks and nuns. During the summer retreat, the organization board also invited representatives from local authorities to disseminate state laws on religion and national unity.
At the ceremony, provincial VBS Executive Committee awarded certificates of merit to 65 individuals who had got excellent results during the three-month summer retreat ./.
