06/12/2014

According to the construction plan, in the June 2014, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will inaugurate three pagodas in Spratly Islands at three Islands: Nam Yet, Son Ca, Phan Vinh. So, currently there are six pagodas in Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton, Trương Sa Lon, Nam Yet, Son Ca and Phan Vinh on the Vietnam’s Spratly Islands.

Long time ago, in the Spratly Island, there were small temples to worship Gods and Buddhas for the peaceful, successful sea trips and happy life ... On those temple grounds, Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton, Truong Sa Lon, the pagodas have been created and developed.

The pagodas on the Spratly Island have been built in the traditional Vietnamese design. In addition to worshipping the Buddha, there are altars for worshipping heroic martyrs - those who have sacrificed heroically to defend the sovereignty of the country’s sacred islands.

The pagodas in the Spratly island are places for practicing Buddhism and the traditional belief of the Spratly islands’ residents, reflecting the cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese people in the islands.
