The cultural life of a Catholic residential area in Quang Binh

Thanh Binh 3 village in Hung Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province have all households followed Catholicism.

The Catholic families in the village used to be poor as relatively compared with other residential areas.

However, there have been great changes in the cultural life of the village for the past years, thanks to both efforts of the Catholic households and support of concerning local authorities.

For promoting the community activities and healthy lifestyles in Thanh Binh 3 village, Phuc Trach district authorities have closely worked with the villagers for renovating the cultural center in the village and its playground.

So far, the villagers in Thanh Binh 3 have maintained and promoted cultural movements by setting up cultural and sport teams and regularly holding exchange and competition activities amongst these teams. During a district boat racing competition, the women team in the village has won the first prize, and the men team has the second. Currently there are two boat racing teams and two volleyball teams for both men and women, and an art troupe in the village.

Recognizing encouraging results in the cultural activities, Thanh Binh 3 village has been awarded the “cultural village” title by Phuc Trach district authorities.
