The central Highlands Steering Committee congratulates the Buddha’s birthday in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces

On April 23, the central Highlands Steering Committee visited and congratulated Executive Committees of Gia Lai and Kon Tum’s Buddhism on the occasion of the Buddha’s birthday festival in Buddhist year 2558.

On behalf of visiting delegation, Mr. Lữ Ngọc Cư, Commissioner of the central Highlands Steering Committee highly appreciated roles and contributions brought by more than 100,000 monks, nuns and Buddhists in Gia Lai province to the socio-economic development in the province in previous years.  Mr. Lữ Ngọc Cư also stated that the Party and the Government always pay due attention to the implementation of the policies for respect and guarantee of citizens’ right to freedom of religion or belief in general, and citizens’ right to freedom of Buddhism in particular.  

Most Venerable Thích Tâm Tường, Chief of the Gia Lai’s Buddhism Executive Committee was delighted when talking about favorable conditions created by the Party and State for Buddhist monks, nuns and followers to live ‘for a better secular and religious life’. He said that, to take part in building a prosperous and beautiful country, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province have carried out sound charity activities, with an average fund of 2 billion VND raised every year.

In Kon Tum province, Mr. Lữ Ngọc Cư expressed his hope that Kon Tum’s Buddhism would promote the good tradition for making further contributions to the cause of building and defending the nation; well carry out the charter of VBS and policies of the Party and State for building the well-being and happy life.

Most Venerable Thích Quang Hạnh, Head of the Dharma Propagation Board thanked local authorities for facilitating the organization of a significant event of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha – the Buddha’s birthday festival in the 15th of the fourth lunar month, Buddhist year 2558.

On behalf of the Kon Tum’s Buddhism Executive Committee, Most Venerable Thích Quang Hạnh, expressed his delight at the central Highlands Steering Committee’ due attention given to Kon Tum’s Buddhism in particular on the occasion of UN Day of  Vesak Festival in Vietnam. Currently, Kon Tum’s Buddhism has 25 Buddhist pagodas, with an area of 20 ha has been allotted by the provincial authority to Mang Den region in Kon Plong district.
