The Thay Thim temple festival in Binh Thuan province has become a place of belief and religious culture convergence of local people, featuring the historical meaning and gratitude for ancestor merits for over 130 years.

In order to preserve and promote traditional fine values of the festival, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province has just submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize Thay Thim temple festival as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Thay Thim temple was built in 1879 under King Tự Đức, aimed to honor merits of Thay Thim (Master Thim) who, according to legend, helped the poor locals living in coastal areas of Ham Tan district and La Gi provincial city.

The temple was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic site in 1997.

Nowadays, Thay Thim temple festival has become a cultural feature, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors in the country. The festival is annually held on the full moon of the ninth lunar month, with traditional worshipping rituals and typical folk games of coastal residents.
