A training course on Buddhist propagation for the North region was held in Thai Nguyen province on Dec. 12.
The training course was co-recognized by the Committee for Propagation of the central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and Thai Nguyen provincial VBS’s Executive Committee, and brought a gathering of nearly 10,000 Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in North region.
State guests at the opening ceremony included Mr. Phạm Dũng, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), Mr. Lê Bá Trình, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and local authorities’ representatives.
Buddhist dignitaries attending the opening ceremony included Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Vice President of the Executive Council of the VBS, Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm, Vice President of the Executive Council of the VBS cum Head of the Central Committee for Propagation and Head of the Organization Committee.
The training course aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of Buddhist tenets and propagation experience, contributing to promote Buddhist value as well as religious harmony and social unity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs cum Chairman of the GCRA Phạm Dũng highly appreciated roles of propagation works and expressed his hope that monks, nuns and followers attending the training course will make further contributions to propagation works and guide Buddhists to become good citizens.
The training course included six topics, including implementation of the working program of the VBS’s Committee for Propagation (2012-2017), dissemination of the Ordinance on Belief and Religion, propaganda and dissemination on traffic safety regulation, implementation of charity activities….
