State President meets HCM City’s religious dignitaries, intellectuals, prestigious people

State President Võ Văn Thưởng met on August 16 with outstanding religious dignitaries, ethnic minorities, intellectuals and individuals of Ho Chi Minh City who are attending the “Connection Journey” program in Hanoi.

During the meeting, President Võ Văn Thưởng said the Party and State have always determined that the great national solidarity is a strategic policy, a source of strength, a main driving force, and a decisive factor to ensure the sustainable victory of the nation building and safeguarding cause. That source of strength has been formed from all social forces, particularly religious dignitaries, ethnic minorities’ leaders, intellectuals and other prestigious individuals in society.

He asserted that the Party and State always respect the freedom of religion, pay attention to and create all conditions for religions to equally operate; improve the material and spiritual life of people, including ethnic minorities; and at the same time create favorable mechanisms and conditions for intellectuals to develop their capacity and qualifications.

The President expressed hope that religious dignitaries, intellectuals, and other outstanding individuals of HCM City will further promote their role, inspire social strata, especially the young generation, and proactively contribute to the development of the city.

President Võ Văn Thưỡng also had exchanges on proposals for scientific and technological development of talented people for the development of the country, as well as the participation of religious organizations in fields of education, health and social assurance.

At the event, while expressing the honor and joy of visiting the capital city of Hà Nội, the Presidential Palace, and meeting with the President, the delegates hoped to make efforts to the development of the Ho Chi Minh City. They highly appreciated the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City municipal authorities’ policies to attract talents for the development of the country, ensure freedom of belief and religion, and support the ethnic minority communities in improving their lives. They expressed hope that the state competent authorities would continue to create favorable conditions for religious groups to effectively participate in community services, and improve the material and spiritual life of the ethnic minority communities, etc.
