State officials pay pre-Christmas visits to localities

Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh and Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission Trương Thị Mai visited and met with Christian dignitaries and followers in Thanh Hoa province and Da Nang city on December 17 ahead of Christmas 2019.

At the visiting reception with Bishop of Thanh Hoa diocese Joseph Nguyễn Đức Cường, Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh extended merry Christmas and happy New Year to the Bishop, priests and lay people in the diocese.

Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thinh shared with the host the socio-economic development of the country in 2019. She took the occasion to state that the Vietnam State always respects the people’ right to religious freedom and creates favorable for religious practices.

The Vice President also said 2019 is a successful year for Thanh Hoa province with many socio-economic targets achieved. She affirmed that the local Catholic followers have contributed to those successes.  

State delegation visits Da Nang diocese

On the same day, Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission Trương Thị Mai paid a pre-Christmas visit to Da Nang diocese.

The official’s visit accompanied by Secretary of Da Nang municipal Party’s Committee Trương Quang Nghĩa and Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng was welcomed by Bishop of Da Nang diocese Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân.

At Da Nang diocese, Chairwoman Trương Thị Mai extended merry Christmas to the diocese Bishop, priests and lay people in the diocese. She also highly valued practical contributions made by Da Nang diocese in the cause of building and defending of the country and the socio-economic development of the locality.

Bishop Joseph Đặng Đức Ngân took the chance to thank the State authorities for support extended to the diocese over the past years and affirmed that he would encourage local Catholics to proactively participate in local movements for the socio-economic development in the city.

On the occasion, the leader of the mass mobilization commission also visited and extended merry Christmas celebrations to Pastor President of the Vietnam United World Mission Church Nguyễn Quang Đức as well as all dignitaries and members of the Church.
