A seminar on cultural and historical values of Nom pagoda and Nom village located in Hung Yen province’s Van Lam district was held on June 18.
During the event themed “Nom Pagoda and Nom Village - Cultural and Historical Values”, participating delegates discussed the history and development of cultural heritages of Nom village and Nom pagoda.
According to Historian Dương Trung Quốc, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences, Nom pagoda is not only a Buddhist worshipping place, but also an architectural and cultural complex, reflecting various aspects of the social life through historical periods of the country in general and the local region in particular.

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Duy Hưng stressed the need for people in Nom village in particular and in Hung Yen province in general to understand local historical and cultural values, contributing to the preservation and protection of cultural heritages in the locality.
Nom pagoda, was built under Ly dynasty (other name “Linh Thong temple”) Nom pagoda has many ancient architectural features. Through many ups and downs of history, the temple has still preserved many ancient artifacts, including more than 100 ancient statues and other precious objects such as stone steles and bells.
Nom village is an architectural complex consisting of a communal house, Nom market, a stone bridge, old roads, and ancient houses existing more than 200 years. This historical relic has still maintained typical features of the traditional village in the north region.
