Seminar on Great Poet Nguyễn Du and Buddhism, social life

The Center for Preservation of Religious Culture Heritage (CPRCH) held on December 5 a seminar with the tile “Great poet Nguyễn Du and Buddhism, social life”.

The event taking place at headquarters of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) was co-chaired by Director of the center Trần Khánh Dư, Vice President of the Vietnam’s Cultural Heritage Association Đặng Văn Bài and Director of Buddhist Affairs Department under the GCRA Bùi Hữu Dược and attended by Vice Chairman of the GCRA Trần Tấn Hùng and  large numbers of scholars and researchers on Buddhism and Great poet Nguyễn Du.

During the seminar, scholars and researchers focused their analyses and discussion of Buddhist philosophy and teachings in Nguyễn Du’s compositions especially the Tale of Kiều. In the Tale of Kiều, it was widely observed that Buddhist teachings and philosophy have been skillfully presented through poetic figures, conflicts of characters and situations of the story. The Buddhist philosophy has played important role in addressing conflicts and sufferings of people’s life in feudal society.
