The Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association in Tien Giang province has nine chapters with nearly 12,000 followers and 10 charity clinics.
During the past five years (2013-2018), the Pure-Land Buddhist sect in Tien Giang province recorded remarkable results in charitable activities.
According to the Executive Board of the Pure-Land Buddhist Association in Tien Giang province, chapters of the Buddhist sect in the province contributed over VND 40 billion to activities of medical charities, including medical examinations for over 529,000 patients and approximately three million packs of traditional medicines.
In addition, the Buddhist church in the locality has actively engaged in social and charitable programs launched by local authorities for supporting the poor and the disadvantaged, including the building of charity houses and promotion of education, with the total contribution of over VND three billion
