In three days, from May 23rd -25th, 2014, at An Vĩnh village temple, Quảng Ngãi province, the Vĩnh Ân pagoda’s Management Board held a requiem ceremony for martyrs and fallen soldiers in Ly Son Island.
The event attracted large attention from Buddhist dignitaries, followers and residents inside and outside Ly Son Island.
Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province with a military base of Vietnam marine force. Requiem ceremony took place in the current context of tension in the East Sea posed by Chinese placing of oil rig 981 in the territorial seas of Vietnam and using ships to ram vessels of Vietnam’s sea protection force.
On this occasion, the organizations awarded the national flag for An Hải and An Vĩnh Fisheries Union, donated money for fishermen victims of Chinese ramming vessels in Paracel Island.
