The executive committee of the Viennam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Quang Binh province held on November 12 a solemn ceremony for receiving and worshipping remains of Ven. Thích Trí Quang in Dai Giac Pagoda where the Buddhist committee’s headquarters is based.

The ceremony was chaired by Ven. Tánh Nhiếp, Chairman of the provincial Buddhist committee, and attended by large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and laymen in the locality.

Ven. Thích Trí Quang was born in the central province of Quang Binh in 1923, and entered monkhood at Pho Minh Pagoda in the province in 1936. He later settled in Hue for Buddhist studies and practices, and became an outstanding Buddhist scholar with many contributions to Vietnam’s Buddhist writings and culture.

The Buddhist dignitary passed away on November 8. Respecting his final wishes, his remains would be placed in Buddhist places in Hue, Quang Binh and Ho Chi Minh City.
