The Institute for Religious Studies (IRS) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) celebrated its 25th founding anniversary at a ceremony held on November 25.
Distinguished guests attending the celebrating ceremony included Assoc. Prof., Dr. Vice President of VASS Bùi Mạnh Quang, Dr. Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Central Executive Council Thích Gia Quang, and Priest Vice Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics cum Editor in chief of the ‘Catholicism and Nation’ Magazine Phan Khắc Từ.
In reviewing IRS’s activities and contributions in the past 25 years during the event, VASS’s Vice President Bùi Mạnh Quang presented the Third-class Labour Order awarded by the State President of Vietnam to the religious studies institute.
Latter in the day, the IRS held a seminar themed “Studies of religion: presence and prospect”. The seminar drew 39 papers relating to past, contemporary and future research and studies on religion in Vietnam.
PTT
