Religious organizations in Dong Nai actively join social movements

According to reports of religious organizations in Dong Nai province, in 2019, local religious organizations have proactively participated in soical movements launched by local authorities for socio-economic development in the locality though practical activities with contributions valued at over 280 billion VND.  

In response the campaign motivating people to develop a new-style rural development in residential areas, local followers have contributed 24.3 billion VND and thousand of working days for building rural roads, installing street lights and security cameras, contributing to improve the material and spiritual life of local people.

In the field of the education, religious dignitaries and followers have supported the construction and repairs of schools and classrooms, provided learning equipments and presented scholarships and bicycles to pupils with high academic results, worth 71.3 billion VND in 2019.

In the field of health sector, local religious organizations established the polyclinics, traditional clinics, providing free health-check and medicines to the poor in the remote areas and other medical charities in the locality, with the total contribution of over 29.4 billion VND over the past year.

In addition, local religions have also built 39 social sponsoring establishments ( 17 Catholic establishments, 21 Buddhist establishment and one Hoa Hao Buddhist establishment) for looking after 2,000 elders, orphans and people with disabilities at an annual budget of about 19 billion VND.

In 2019, local religious organizations have proactively joint in action plans launched for environment preservation including proper disposal of waste and tree plantation in religious worshipping places. Up to now, 144 residential areas of religious communities have established self-managed models for environment protection and climate change adaption.
