Religious organizations call for supports extended to people affected by floods in Central Vietnam

Religious organizations have issued messages calling for relief supplies sent to flood-hit people in the Central of Vietnam.

In the letter issued on October 14, the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) (ECVN) called on heads and members of the management board of Evangelical chapters, and Evangelical philanthropists and businessmen to support people and followers in flood-hit areas.

After the letter, the Social Health Committee under the ECVN has provided assistance to the Evangelical church’s chapters in Quang Tri province.

Early, in the letter released on October 12, the Social Action Committee (Vietnam Caritas) under the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam also called for supports from Catholic followers to flood-hit people in the Central of Vietnam.

The storm no.6 has brought serious damages and losses in the five provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh.

As reported, the storm has caused many deaths and missing; destroyed nearly 150,000 houses; flooded 4,500 hectares of rice; killed 2,100 hectares of seafood and 151,000 cattle and poultry; and divided many residential areas.
