A delegation of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) led by Pastor Thái Phước Trường, President of the church, visited Gia Lai provincial committee for religious affairs on August 7 during a working trip to the province.
The delegation, joint by Pastor Treasurer of the church Phan Quang Thiệu, Pastor Siu Tum from the church’s executive committee and Pastor Chairman of the church’s representative committee in Gia Lai Huỳnh Duy Linh, was welcomed by Chairman of the provincial religious committee Hồ Hải Tần.
Speaking at the visiting reception, Pastor Thái Phước Trường thanked the provincial religious committee for its guidance and support extended to religious practices of the evangelical church’s members in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.
As reported, the southern evangelical church in Gia Lai currently has 65 church chapters and a number of meeting places registered with local authorities. Gia Lai provincial authorities have also approved for the construction of 39 new worshipping churches under the ECVN (South) for recent years.
While informing current practices in Gia Lai of religions in general, and Protestantism in particular, Chairman Hồ Hải Tần affirmed that the provincial religious committee will continue making recommendations for promptly addressing religious practices by local people in accordance with state laws.
Ealier, the ECVN delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the provincial government of Gia Lai, and was welcomed by Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huỳnh Nữ Thu Hà
