In response to a call of local authorities in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, religious organizations in Nam Dinh province have issued dispatches calling their followers to join hands in fight against Covid-19.
On March 4, Bui Chu diocese sent a dispatch to all parishes, congregations asking them to strictly implement prevention measures against the epidemic and limit scales of large religious gatherings. In churches, parishioners are requested to avoid direct contacts during religious services. When followers have signs of infection (such as cough, fever.), they are urged to absolutely not enter churches.
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Executive Committee in the province also issued on March 10 a dispatch to the district-level VBS’s sub-committee asking for enhancing the awareness of local people and Buddhists on preventing measures against the epidemic. Accordingly, local pagodas have provided free facemasks and asked people to wear masks while going to the pagodas.
Protestant churches and congregation in the province have also enhanced the communication work on the preventive measures against the virus amongst parishioners and implemented advisories by relevant authorities.
