A ceremony for the inauguration of Avalokitesvara tower and Mother Goddess temple in Quang Phuc pagoda in Hanoi was solemnly held on March 5.
The event saw the participation of Venerable Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Giác Hiệp, Venerable Member of the VBS Executive Council, Deputy Secretary cum Chief of the Office of the VBS in Hanoi Thích Minh Trí, Nun Abbess of Quang Phuc pagoda Thích Đàm Thanh, and large numbers of monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in the city.
Distinguished guests at the event included Chief of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs’ Office Dương Văn Khá.
Quang Phuc Pagoda was built in 1733 during the reign of King Lê Thuần Tông King on area of 7,000 m2 and has been upgraded many times. In 2007, the pagoda’s main worshipping hall was reconstructed.
The construction work of the Avalokitesvara tower and Mother Goddess temple of Quang Phuc pagoda were started in 2013 and completed after three years at the total cost of over VND 10 billion.
