On July 25, 2014, the celebration and thanksgiving ceremony for 55 years of Protestantism in Phuoc Thien was held in Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province. Attending the ceremony were pastor Phan Vĩnh Cự, President of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (Southern), representatives from local authorities, dignitaries, deacons and 400 followers in the locality. The ceremony includes singing of hymns, preaching, praying, review of the church’s history, presenting gifts to former dignitaries and deacons.
On May, 1959, missionary Ngô Thái Bình was appointed as Chairman of Binh Son chapter and brought Protestantism into Phuoc Thien fishing village. Under guidance of missionary Ngô Thái Bình, a church was built and completed in 1960.
On October 12, 2008, Binh Hai commune officially recognized Phuoc Thien Protestant congregation. On August 18, 2014, Quang Ngai province recognized Phuoc Thien chapter under the Vietnam Evangelical Church. On November 17, 2009, the chapter conducted the stone – laying ceremony for the construction of its church. After six months of construction, the chapter inaugurated its new church on May 7, 2010. Through 55 years of development, Phuoc Thien chapter has comprehensively developed; material and spiritual life of followers have been improved.
